Bible Etiquette
• Leviticus 19:32. Always rise and give a seat to an aged person. BHB 179.4
• Exodus 20:12. Show especial respect to your father and mother. BHB 179.5
• Proverbs 1:8, 9. Respect for parents gives a charm and dignity to the character. BHB 179.6
• Leviticus 19:14. Be careful to show kindness to any that have physical deformities, as the blind, deaf, etc. BHB 179.7
• Exodus 22:22-24. Be kind to those who have passed through heavy sorrow, widows and fatherless children. BHB 179.8
• 2 Timothy 2:24. “Be gentle unto all men.” Prophets and Kings, 237; Testimonies for the Church 2:647. BHB 179.9
• 1 Peter 3:7. Men should respect and honor the women. BHB 179.10
• 1 Timothy 2:12, 13. Women should not be forward and take the place of men, but should recognize men as occupying the first place. BHB 179.11
• Matthew 5:33-37. Avoid allslang expressions of every sort. Christ’s Object Lessons, 336, 337. BHB 179.12
• Proverbs 7:11. Avoid all loud talking. The Ministry of Healing, 489, 490. BHB 179.13
• Proverbs 6:13-15. Winking, or making signs with the hands and feet, is very rude. BHB 179.14
• Proverbs 25:17. It is not good etiquette to visit the same family too often. BHB 179.15
• Proverbs 27:14. If one rises very early in the morning, he should be quiet so as not to disturb others. BHB 179.16
• 1 Peter 3:1-5. Nothing adds to a woman’s charms like a “meek and quiet spirit.” Testimonies for the Church 2:133. BHB 180.1
• Proverbs 31:30. “Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.” BHB 180.2
