CHAPTER THREE: The Relationship of Daniel to the Apocrypha

We must consider still another aspect of the book of Daniel—its relationship to the Old Testament Apocrypha, since part of the Apocrypha was appended to the Greek, or Septuagint, version of Daniel. But first let us trace briefly the historical background of that interesting period in Jewish history that lies between the close of the Old Testament and the beginning of the New. The genuineness or spuriousness of the Apocryphal additions to the book of Daniel is therefore a definite phase of our inquiry. PFF1 67.1
