Testimony for the Church No. 10

In spite of the pressure to push ahead with the writing of Old Testament history for Spiritual Gifts,, Volume III, Ellen White felt that she must not lag in getting her messages before the church in the Testimony pamphlets. Number 10 was advertised in the Review of January 19, 1864. The subjects presented were practical: Dangers of the Young; Walk in the Light; The East; the Aged; the American Costume; Ministers, and Wives of Ministers; and Patent Rights. [This reference to patent rights does not pertain to the proper steps of an inventor to protect his claim to the fruitage of his genius mind and hands, but to a speculative custom of the time of selling in certain territories, the right to an income from the sale of a patented article, a practice that often left the investor on the losing end. See Testimonies for the Church, 1:455, 551.] It contained eighty pages and sold for 15 cents. 2BIO 95.7
