Steadfast Praise and Trust in God — June 3
Psalms 108-112
Psalms 108
1 O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory. 365N 154.1
2 Awake, lute and harp! I will awaken the dawn. 365N 154.2
3 I will praise You, O Lord , among the peoples, And I will sing praises to You among the nations. 365N 154.3
4 For Your mercy is great above the [a] heavens, And Your truth reaches to the clouds. 365N 154.4
5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, And Your glory above all the earth; 365N 154.5
6 That Your beloved may be delivered, Save with Your right hand, and [b] hear me. 365N 154.6
7 God has spoken in His holiness: “I will rejoice; I will divide Shechem And measure out the Valley of Succoth. 365N 154.7
8 Gilead is Mine; Manasseh is Mine; Ephraim also is the [c] helmet for My head; Judah is My lawgiver. 365N 154.8
9 Moab is My washpot; Over Edom I will cast My shoe; Over Philistia I will triumph.” 365N 154.9
10 Who will bring me into the strong city? Who will lead me to Edom? 365N 154.10
11 Is it not You, O God, who cast us off? And You, O God, who did not go out with our armies? 365N 154.11
12 Give us help from trouble, For the help of man is useless. 365N 154.12
13 Through God we will do valiantly, For it is He who shall tread down our enemies. 365N 154.13
Psalms 109
1 Do not keep silent, O God of my praise! 365N 154.14
2 For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful Have opened against me; They have spoken against me with a lying tongue. 365N 154.15
3 They have also surrounded me with words of hatred, And fought against me without a cause. 365N 154.16
4 In return for my love they are my accusers, But I give myself to prayer. 365N 154.17
5 Thus they have rewarded me evil for good, And hatred for my love. 365N 154.18
6 Set a wicked man over him, And let an [a] accuser stand at his right hand. 365N 154.19
7 When he is judged, let him be found guilty, And let his prayer become sin. 365N 154.20
8 Let his days be few, And let another take his office. 365N 154.21
9 Let his children be fatherless, And his wife a widow. 365N 154.22
10 Let his children [b] continually be vagabonds, and beg; Let them [c] seek their bread also from their desolate places. 365N 154.23
11 Let the creditor seize all that he has, And let strangers plunder his labor. 365N 154.24
12 Let there be none to extend mercy to him, Nor let there be any to favor his fatherless children. 365N 154.25
13 Let his [d] posterity be cut off, And in the generation following let their name be blotted out. 365N 154.26
14 Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the Lord , And let not the sin of his mother be blotted out. 365N 154.27
15 Let them be continually before the Lord , That He may cut off the memory of them from the earth; 365N 154.28
16 Because he did not remember to show mercy, But persecuted the poor and needy man, That he might even slay the broken in heart. 365N 154.29
17 As he loved cursing, so let it come to him; As he did not delight in blessing, so let it be far from him. 365N 154.30
18 As he clothed himself with cursing as with his garment, So let it enter his body like water, And like oil into his bones. 365N 154.31
19 Let it be to him like the garment which covers him, And for a belt with which he girds himself continually. 365N 154.32
20 Let this be the Lord ’s reward to my accusers, And to those who speak evil against my person. 365N 154.33
21 But You, O God the Lord, Deal with me for Your name’s sake; Because Your mercy is good, deliver me. 365N 154.34
22 For I am poor and needy, And my heart is wounded within me. 365N 154.35
23 I am gone like a shadow when it lengthens; I am shaken off like a locust. 365N 154.36
24 My knees are weak through fasting, And my flesh is feeble from lack of fatness. 365N 154.37
25 I also have become a reproach to them; When they look at me, they shake their heads. 365N 154.38
26 Help me, O Lord my God! Oh, save me according to Your mercy, 365N 154.39
27 That they may know that this is Your hand— That You, Lord , have done it! 365N 154.40
28 Let them curse, but You bless; When they arise, let them be ashamed, But let Your servant rejoice. 365N 154.41
29 Let my accusers be clothed with shame, And let them cover themselves with their own disgrace as with a mantle. 365N 154.42
30 I will greatly praise the Lord with my mouth; Yes, I will praise Him among the multitude. 365N 154.43
31 For He shall stand at the right hand of the poor, To save him from those [e] who condemn him. 365N 154.44
Psalms 110
1 The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.” 365N 154.45
2 The Lord shall send the rod of Your strength out of Zion. Rule in the midst of Your enemies! 365N 154.46
3 Your people shall be volunteers In the day of Your power; In the beauties of holiness, from the womb of the morning, You have the dew of Your youth. 365N 154.47
4 The Lord has sworn And will not relent, “You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek.” 365N 154.48
5 The Lord is at Your right hand; He shall [a] execute kings in the day of His wrath. 365N 154.49
6 He shall judge among the nations, He shall fill the places with dead bodies, He shall [b] execute the heads of many countries. 365N 154.50
7 He shall drink of the brook by the wayside; Therefore He shall lift up the head. 365N 154.51
Psalms 111

3 His work is honorable and glorious, And His righteousness endures forever. 365N 154.54
4 He has made His wonderful works to be remembered; The Lord is gracious and full of compassion. 365N 154.55

2 His descendants will be mighty on earth; The generation of the upright will be blessed. 365N 154.63
3 Wealth and riches will be in his house, And his righteousness [b] endures forever. 365N 154.64

9 He has dispersed abroad, He has given to the poor; His righteousness endures forever; His [c] horn will be exalted with honor. 365N 154.70
10 The wicked will see it and be grieved; He will gnash his teeth and melt away; The desire of the wicked shall perish. 365N 154.71
