Matthew 26:57-68 365D 326.1

57 And those who had laid hold of Jesus led Him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled. 365D 326.2

58 But Peter followed Him at a distance to the high priest’s courtyard. And he went in and sat with the servants to see the end. 365D 326.3

59 Now the chief priests, [k] the elders, and all the council sought false testimony against Jesus to put Him to death, 365D 326.4

60 [l] but found none. Even though many false witnesses came forward, they found none. But at last two [m] false witnesses came forward 365D 326.5

61 and said, “This fellow said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and to build it in three days.’ ” 365D 326.6

62 And the high priest arose and said to Him, “Do You answer nothing? What is it these men testify against You?” 365D 326.7

63 But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest answered and said to Him, “I put You under oath by the living God: Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!” 365D 326.8

64 Jesus said to him, “ It is as you said. Nevertheless, I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.” 365D 326.9

65 Then the high priest tore his clothes, saying, “He has spoken blasphemy! What further need do we have of witnesses? Look, now you have heard His blasphemy! 365D 326.10

66 What do you think?” They answered and said, “He is deserving of death.” 365D 326.11

67 Then they spat in His face and beat Him; and others struck Him with [n] the palms of their hands, 365D 326.12

68 saying, “Prophesy to us, Christ! Who is the one who struck You?” 365D 326.13

Mark 14:53-65 365D 326.14

53 And they led Jesus away to the high priest; and with him were assembled all the chief priests, the elders, and the scribes. 365D 326.15

54 But Peter followed Him at a distance, right into the courtyard of the high priest. And he sat with the servants and warmed himself at the fire. 365D 326.16

55 Now the chief priests and all the council sought testimony against Jesus to put Him to death, but found none. 365D 326.17

56 For many bore false witness against Him, but their testimonies [k] did not agree. 365D 326.18

57 Then some rose up and bore false witness against Him, saying, 365D 326.19

58 “We heard Him say, ‘I will destroy this temple made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.’ ” 365D 326.20

59 But not even then did their testimony agree. 365D 326.21

60 And the high priest stood up in the midst and asked Jesus, saying, “Do You answer nothing? What is it these men testify against You?” 365D 326.22

61 But He kept silent and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked Him, saying to Him, “Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?” 365D 326.23

62 Jesus said, “I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.” 365D 326.24

63 Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, “What further need do we have of witnesses? 365D 326.25

64 You have heard the blasphemy! What do you think?” And they all condemned Him to be deserving of death. 365D 326.26

65 Then some began to spit on Him, and to blindfold Him, and to beat Him, and to say to Him, “Prophesy!” And the officers [l] struck Him with the palms of their hands. 365D 326.27
