Matthew 25:14-30 365D 286.1
14 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. 365D 286.2
15 And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. 365D 286.3
16 Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. 365D 286.4
17 And likewise he who had received two gained two more also. 365D 286.5
18 But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord’s money. 365D 286.6
19 After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them. 365D 286.7
20 “So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’ 365D 286.8
21 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ 365D 286.9
22 He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’ 365D 286.10
23 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ 365D 286.11
24 “Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 365D 286.12
25 And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’ 365D 286.13
26 “But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. 365D 286.14
27 So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. 365D 286.15
28 So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents. 365D 286.16
29 ‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. 365D 286.17
30 And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ 365D 286.18
Luke 19:11-28 365D 286.19
11 Now as they heard these things, He spoke another parable, because He was near Jerusalem and because they thought the kingdom of God would appear immediately. 365D 286.20
12 Therefore He said: “A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return. 365D 286.21
13 So he called ten of his servants, delivered to them ten [e] minas, and said to them, ‘Do business till I come.’ 365D 286.22
14 But his citizens hated him, and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We will not have this man to reign over us.’ 365D 286.23
15 “And so it was that when he returned, having received the kingdom, he then commanded these servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading. 365D 286.24
16 Then came the first, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned ten minas.’ 365D 286.25
17 And he said to him, ‘Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities.’ 365D 286.26
18 And the second came, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned five minas.’ 365D 286.27
19 Likewise he said to him, ‘You also be over five cities.’ 365D 286.28
20 “Then another came, saying, ‘Master, here is your mina, which I have kept put away in a handkerchief. 365D 286.29
21 For I feared you, because you are [f] an austere man. You collect what you did not deposit, and reap what you did not sow.’ 365D 286.30
22 And he said to him, ‘Out of your own mouth I will judge you, you wicked servant. You knew that I was an austere man, collecting what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow. 365D 286.31
23 Why then did you not put my money in the bank, that at my coming I might have collected it with interest?’ 365D 286.32
24 “And he said to those who stood by, ‘Take the mina from him, and give it to him who has ten minas.’ 365D 286.33
25 (But they said to him, ‘Master, he has ten minas.’) 365D 286.34
26 ‘For I say to you, that to everyone who has will be given; and from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. 365D 286.35
27 But bring here those enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, and slay them before me.’ ” 365D 286.36
28 When He had said this, He went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem. 365D 286.37
