Mark 8:27-38 365D 134.1

27 Now Jesus and His disciples went out to the towns of Caesarea Philippi; and on the road He asked His disciples, saying to them, “Who do men say that I am?” 365D 134.2

28 So they answered, “John the Baptist; but some say, Elijah; and others, one of the prophets.” 365D 134.3

29 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered and said to Him, “You are the Christ.” 365D 134.4

30 Then He strictly warned them that they should tell no one about Him. 365D 134.5

31 And He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. 365D 134.6

32 He spoke this word openly. Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him. 365D 134.7

33 But when He had turned around and looked at His disciples, He rebuked Peter, saying, “Get behind Me, Satan! For you are not [e] mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.” 365D 134.8

34 When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 365D 134.9

35 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. 365D 134.10

36 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? 365D 134.11

37 Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? 365D 134.12

38 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.” 365D 134.13

Luke 9:18-27 365D 134.14

18 And it happened, as He was alone praying, that His disciples joined Him, and He asked them, saying, “Who do the crowds say that I am?” 365D 134.15

19 So they answered and said, “John the Baptist, but some say Elijah; and others say that one of the old prophets has risen again.” 365D 134.16

20 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered and said, “The Christ of God.” 365D 134.17

21 And He strictly warned and commanded them to tell this to no one, 365D 134.18

22 saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.” 365D 134.19

23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross [b] daily, and follow Me. 365D 134.20

24 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. 365D 134.21

25 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? 365D 134.22

26 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels. 365D 134.23

27 But I tell you truly, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the kingdom of God.” 365D 134.24
