Jesus warned that there would be false prophets in the end-time (Matthew 24:24), therefore, it is imperative that we know how to determine whether a prophet is genuine or counterfeit. A true prophet should: JTLD 294.2
- Agree with the Bible (Isaiah 8:20)
- Predict accurately (Jeremiah 28:9) unless it’s a conditional prophecy dependent on the response of the people (Jeremiah 18:7-10)
- Exhibit Christ-like fruits (Matthew 7:15-20)
- Direct people to Jesus for salvation (Acts 4:12)
- Turn people from their evil ways (Jeremiah 23:22)
- Provide practical counsel for everyday Christian living (2 Timothy 3:16)
- Not be intimidated by people’s displeasure (Jeremiah 1:17-19)
These are the tests of a true Biblical prophet. JTLD 294.3
