Spiritual gifts are an endowment from Christ that are imparted to human beings by the Holy Spirit. The apostle Paul identifies the various gifts as follows: utterance of wisdom, utterance of knowledge, faith, healing, miracle-working, prophecy (see Step No. 21, The Gift of Prophecy), ability to distinguish spirits, various kinds of tongues (languages), interpretation of tongues, service, teaching , teaching, encouraging, giving generously, giving leadership, showing mercy (Romans 12:8 NIV). Paul outlines the appointments that should be made in the church: apostles, prophets, teachers, miracle workers, healers, helpers, administrators, evangelists, and pastors. JTLD 275.2
