Counsel #5 — Praise As Worship

Picture: Counsel #5 — Praise As Worship CCL 100.1

The gap between us and God is so great that it is impossible to fully grasp. After all, how do you compare having a beginning and not having one? This difference shows that God is above us, beyond us, and better than us. But the Bible also tells us that God is good. If God is good—perfectly good—as well as greater than us, it only makes sense to praise Him.[130] Without God, there would be no world, no creation, no goodness, no love, no happiness, and no meaning. Do we fully realize this? CCL 100.2

“Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.” Hebrews 13:15 CCL 100.3

“There should be a spirit of confession to God and an acknowledgment of His blessings with thanksgiving. Our worship should be so filled with praise and thanksgiving that the angels of heaven will rejoice with us.” Ellen White in Letters and Manuscripts, vol. 20, Letter 279, 1905, par. 11 CCL 100.4

Reflect: Where do you see God working in your life? Take a moment to think about at least five things you're thankful for and spend some time thanking God for them. CCL 100.5
