Counsels on Church Life
Counsel #4 — Sharing The Gospel
Picture: Counsel #4 — Sharing The Gospel CCL 91.1
Sometimes we think we’ve “done our duty” if we just go sit on a padded bench for an hour a week and passively worship the Lord. But the Word of God shows us heaven’s ideal for church life, to worship Him with joy in spirit and in truth (see John 4:23, 24) and invite others to share the Good News of the gospel.[121] CCL 91.2
“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘….Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you, and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’” Matthew 28:19, 20 NKJV CCL 91.3
“The disciples were to go forth as Christ’s witnesses, to declare to the world what they had seen and heard of Him…. They were to be workers together with God for the saving of men. As in the Old Testament the twelve patriarchs stood as representatives of Israel, so the twelve apostles stand as representatives of the gospel church.” Ellen White in The Acts of the Apostles, p. 19 CCL 91.4
Reflect: In what ways do you enjoy sharing the good news of Jesus’ salvation with others? CCL 91.5
