Seventh-day Adventists are Christians who believe they are saved by faith in Christ’s atoning sacrifice on the cross. All Adventist beliefs are based on the Bible, the authoritative narrative of God’s covenant relationship with humanity—from Creation in Genesis to the culmination of earth history in Revelation. CCL 11.2
The Word of God, both the Old and New Testaments, is God's message in writing. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, holy men spoke and recorded these words. Through the Bible, God offers us the knowledge we need to be saved. It's a flawless guide to His will, revealing our purpose, measuring our actions, and laying out core truths. The Bible is also a trustworthy account of God's actions throughout history.[8] CCL 11.3
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of Gd may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16, 17 NKJV CCL 11.4
“The Bible is more valuable as an educating power than the writings of all the philosophers of all ages.” Ellen White in A Call to Stand Apart, p. 106 CCL 11.5
Reflect: Is there a particular area of your life where the Bible's guidance would be most helpful right now? How might you use the Bible as a tool for "instruction in righteousness" in your own actions and choices? CCL 11.6
