Depending on the situation, neighbors can be a source of blessings or challenges. Some are friendly and welcoming when you move to a new neighborhood, while others can keep you awake at night with noise. In many cases, people don't even know their neighbors. However, if you saw smoke pouring out of your neighbor’s house, you would probably call the fire department and see how you could help. Surprisingly, we often show less concern for our neighbors' eternal future than immediate emergencies. We all have the chance to befriend and genuinely connect with those around us, allowing God to use these relationships as opportunities to share His love, care, and truth.[86] CCL 59.2

“Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, leading to edification.” Romans 15:2 CCL 59.3

“Our sphere of influence may seem narrow, our ability small, our opportunities few, our acquirements limited; yet wonderful possibilities are ours through a faithful use of the opportunities of our own homes. If we will open our hearts and homes to the divine principles of life, we shall become channels for currents of life-giving power. From our homes will flow streams of healing, bringing life, and beauty, and fruitfulness where now are barrenness and dearth.” Ellen White in The Adventist Home, p. 32.5 CCL 59.4

Reflect: What can you do to befriend and better connect spiritually with others in your neighborhood? Are there any random acts of kindness you could do? CCL 59.5
