Counsel #17 — Spiritual Gifts And Ministries

Picture: Counsel #17 — Spiritual Gifts And Ministries CCL 27.1

God equips every member of His church with unique spiritual gifts, meant to be used in loving service to others, both within the church and in the world. The Holy Spirit gives these gifts to whomever He sees fit, and together they provide everything the church needs to function as God intended. CCL 27.2

Ephesians 4 mentions gifts like strong faith, healing abilities, sharing prophetic messages, spreading the Good News, teaching others, organizing and leading, bringing people back to God, showing compassion, and giving generously to help those in need. CCL 27.3

Additionally, some people are specifically called by God and empowered by the Holy Spirit for specific leadership roles within the church. These pastors, evangelists, and teachers are there to prepare everyone else for their roles, help the church grow in maturity, and promote a sense of unity and understanding of God. CCL 27.4

When everyone uses their gifts faithfully, like responsible managers of God's amazing grace, the church is protected from false teachings, flourishes with healthy growth, and becomes a stronger community built on faith and love.[34] CCL 27.5

“Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them.” Romans 12:6 ESV CCL 27.6

“Not all the gifts are imparted to each believer, but to every servant of the Master some gift of the Spirit is promised, according to that one's need for the Lord's work.” Ellen White in From the Heart, p. 305 CCL 27.7

Reflect: Romans 12:6 mentions "gifts that differ." Have you considered what your unique spiritual gift(s) might be? CCL 27.8
