Counsel #28 — Resting In God

Picture: Counsel #28 — Resting In God CCW 44.1

Resting in God is not the absence of work but a profound peace that transcends our busy lives. It's a quiet confidence that comes from knowing we are loved and cared for by God Himself, Sovereign King of the Universe! This divine rest allows us to approach our tasks with renewed energy and focus, free from the burden of anxiety and stress. It's a Sabbath-like spirit, not just a weekly observance, but a daily practice of trusting in God's providence and seeking His guidance in every moment. After all, the stressed and disorganized mind seldom accomplishes much of anything. Instead, true spiritual rest focuses the senses, trains the eye on God’s care, and leads our minds to break free of the mundane cycles that inhibit rest in God.[60] CCW 44.2

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 CCW 44.3

“Those who learn of Jesus His meekness and lowliness find rest in the experience of practicing His lessons. It is not in indolence, in selfish ease and pleasure-seeking, that rest is obtained. Those who are unwilling to give the Lord faithful, earnest, loving service will not find spiritual rest in this life or in the life to come. Only from earnest labor comes peace and joy in the Holy Spirit—happiness on earth and glory hereafter.” Ellen White in Letters and Manuscripts 16, Ms. 42, 1901, par. 12 CCW 44.4

Reflect: How do you find rest in God during a busy and challenging schedule? CCW 44.5
