Counsel #2 — Submission To Scripture

Picture: Counsel #2 — Submission To Scripture CCW 4.1

Imagine sailing in an uncharted ocean. One approach is to rely on your intuition, believing you can always navigate in the right direction. But as a fallible human, you might lack vital knowledge of currents and hidden dangers, risking a wayward journey. The alternative is to use a map crafted by an expert navigator, trusting it represents the best path. This map holds the authority and knowledge you lack, requiring openness to adjustments. Following it makes you more likely to reach your destination safely and efficiently. Similarly, approaching the Bible with the belief that it is inspired by God and staying open to its authority can guide you toward spiritual growth and understanding. How we approach Scripture can change everything.[2] CCW 4.2

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,” 2 Timothy 3:16 NKJV CCW 4.3

“Much has been lost because our ministers and people have concluded that we have had all the truth essential for us as a people; but such a conclusion is erroneous and in harmony with the deceptions of Satan; for truth will be constantly unfolding.” Ellen White in The Signs of the Times, May 26, 1890, par. 2 CCW 4.4

Reflect: Do you approach the Bible looking for evidence to support what you believe, or do you study it with an openness to let it challenge you? CCW 4.5
