Counsel #1 — Intro To Young Earth Evidence
Picture: Counsel #1 — Intro To Young Earth Evidence CSe 88.1
These counselswill explore evidence supporting a young Earth hypothesis as described in the Bible, primarily focusing on catastrophic events and their implications for geological time scales. While the prevailing scientific consensus suggests an old Earth, there are scientific arguments and observations that challenge this view. CSe 88.2
The prevailing geological theory posits that Earth's history spans hundreds of millions of years, shaped by gradual processes such as erosion, sedimentation, and tectonic shifts. This is often referred to as "deep time" geology. CSe 88.3
However, a growing body of evidence, supported by a creationist worldview, suggests that Earth's geological features were formed much more recently, over a period of thousands of years rather than millions. This perspective, known as "short-age geology," proposes that rapid geological processes, often driven by catastrophic events, such as the global flood of Genesis, have played a significant role in shaping our planet's landscape.[88] CSe 88.4
“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” Proverbs 14:12 CSe 88.5
“Rightly understood, science and the written word agree, and each sheds light on the other.” Ellen White in Counsels to Parents, Teachers, and Students, p. 426 CSe 88.6
