Counsel #6 — The Fall
Picture: Counsel #6 — The Fall CSe 61.1
Adam and Eve were warned if they disobeyed (sinned against) God, it would bring death. Enviously Satan saw the gorgeous Garden of Eden and the pair’s total bliss and happiness in it; he determined to cause them to disobey their Creator, desiring their resulting guilt and death penalty. CSe 61.2
While innocent, had Adam and Eve rejected Satan’s efforts to trap them, they would have been safe and secure. But because they disobeyed God and ate from The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil (Genesis 3), they could no longer communicate with God face-to-face.[61] But God, having great love for them, promised a Redeemer to come who would suffer the death penalty in their place and restore them at last to Himself (Genesis 3:15).[62] CSe 61.3
“As through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life.” Romans 5:18 NKJV CSe 61.4
“The instant man accepted the temptations of Satan, and did the very things God had said he should not do, Christ, the Son of God, stood between the living and the dead, saying, ‘Let the punishment fall on Me. I will stand in man’s place. He shall have another chance.’” Ellen White in The Faith I Live By, p. 75 CSe 61.5
