God reasoned with Lucifer and tried with love and compassion to show him what would be the results of his rebellion. But Lucifer left God’s presence to spread discontent among the angels— pretending worship and devotion for God—while hiding his real purpose. Ultimately, Lucifer (now Satan) and the angels who followed him were overcome and thrown out of heaven.[59] CSe 59.2
“War broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” Revelation 12:7-9 NKJV CSe 59.3
“Lucifer was convinced that he was in the wrong. He saw that ‘the Lord is righteous in all His ways, and holy in all His works’ (Psalms 145:17); that the divine statutes are just, and that he ought to acknowledge them as such before all heaven. Had he done this, he might have saved himself and many angels.” Ellen White in Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 39 CSe 59.4
