Counsel #1 — Origin Of Sin
Picture: Counsel #1 — Origin Of Sin CSe 56.1
The great controversy is the war between Christ and His angels and Satan and his angels being fought over you and me and our choice to live either for God or for Satan. When we choose to sin — disobey God, we’re choosing to live for Satan. Sin is evil — it separates us from God, who loves us and created us. But where did sin originate? CSe 56.2
Scripture clearly teaches that God is not responsible for sin, nor its origination. Evil originated with Lucifer (a.k.a. Satan after his rebellion in heaven), the angel who had been highly honored by God and who, next to Christ, was highest in power and glory among the inhabitants of heaven.[56] CSe 56.3
“You were the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. You were in Eden, the garden of God…. You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you: You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones. You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created, till iniquity was found in you.” Ezekiel 28:12-15 NKJV CSe 56.4
“Lucifer, ‘son of the morning,’ was first of the covering cherubs, holy and undefiled. He stood in the presence of the Great Creator, and the ceaseless beams of glory enshrouding the eternal God rested upon him.” Ellen White in Patriarchs and Prophets, p.35 CSe 56.5
Reflect: What would it take for you to choose to live for God? CSe 56.6
