What is true for mammals and reptiles applies to all animal groups: more fossils reveal clear species like clams, starfish, crabs, fish, primates, dogs, and cats, not intermediates. Some fossils show slight differences from living relatives. While evolutionary biologists may interpret these as intermediates, this does not prove evolution. Any varied complex group, whether animals or automobiles, can be arranged to suggest an evolutionary sequence. However, far more intermediate fossils and convincing evidence are needed to demonstrate evolution. Most fossils are only skeletons or hard shells, the parts usually preserved, making it difficult to understand the animals’ physiology and how they actually lived.^[47] CSe 48.2
