Counsel #5 — Seeking Justice With Grace

In times of chaos, it is natural to feel the urge to lash out in response to the wrongs committed against us or those dear to us. However, we must recognize that retaliation, fueled by rage and revenge, only perpetuates the cycle of harm. Instead, we can demonstrate our faith in God's ultimate justice by entrusting Him to avenge us for the injustices we face.[167] CSI 118.2

"It is mine to avenge; I will repay." Deuteronomy 32:35 NIV CSI 118.3

“By some of our brethren many things have been spoken and written that are interpreted as expressing antagonism to government and law. It is a mistake thus to lay ourselves open to misunderstanding. It is not wise to find fault continually with what is done by the rulers of government. It is not our work to attack individuals or institutions. We should exercise great care lest we be understood as putting ourselves in opposition to the civil authorities.” Ellen White in Counsels to the Church, p. 316 CSI 118.4

Reflect: When you find yourself facing the unjust actions of others or witnessing institutional failure, what are constructive ways you can empower yourself and advocate for justice without resorting to rage or revenge? CSI 118.5
