Counsel #13 — Equality Beyond Measure
Picture: Counsel #13 — Equality Beyond Measure CSI 80.1
As Christians we need a reality check: equality matters. We need to dial down the "me, me, me" attitude and seek to create a world where everyone's talents are recognized and valued. Imagine if we put our spiritual gifts to work for something beyond ourselves? CSI 80.2
Christ’s way was all about accessibility and inclusiveness. He didn’t reserve His goodness for a select few. How would such inclusivity look in our own lives? Could we expand our friendship circle? Could we be intentional in looking for talent and ability in those who do not look like us, inviting them to contribute to our projects, join our recreation, exercise leadership in our organizations?[117] CSI 80.3
“In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” Acts 20:35 NIV CSI 80.4
“Let there be more equality among us. There is too much eager grasping for recompense. Selfish estimates of the labor done are being made…. A consecrated use of these talents would bring a revenue to the cause of God. All our talents belong to God, and both principal and interest are one day to be handed back to Him.” Ellen White in Selected Messages, bk. 2, p. 183 CSI 80.5
Reflect: What if we aimed not for personal gain, but for collective betterment? How can you bring the spotlight of equality to someone's life today? CSI 80.6
