Jesus opposed the world’s unfair system of judging people’s value. He stood with the poor to fight the negative view society attached to them. By blessing the poor, who will be part of God’s kingdom, Jesus permanently removed the shame associated with poverty. He set an example for us, saying, “Whoever wants to follow me must sacrifice their own desires, accept the challenges they face each day, and follow my teachings.” (Luke 9:23) CSI 72.2
