Counsel #7 — Equality

Picture: Counsel #7 — Equality CSI 54.1

God created both men and women in His image (Genesis 1:27), neither gender more nor less in His image. For Adventist Christians, the redemption theme is the restoration in humanity of the image of God. Since God’s original creation included equality between the sexes, we should seek to provide equal opportunities regardless of gender in our present culture as part of our reception of the gospel.[93] CSI 54.2

The Bible does not support ascendancy of women over men or of men over women, but rather provides principles to encourage us to strive for human equality for all. How wonderful it would be if oppressed and oppressor, aged and youth, black and white, male, and female would reconcile in a unity worthy of His church. CSI 54.3

“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:28 NKJV CSI 54.4

“When God created Eve, He designed that she should possess neither inferiority nor superiority to the man, but in all things she should be his equal.” Ellen White in Testimonies for the Church, vol. 3, p. 484 CSI 54.5

Reflect: If God’s ideal regarding equality were restored, how would your community, school, church, or home be different than it is now? CSI 54.6
