Counsel #6 — Political “Messiah”

Picture: Counsel #6 — Political “Messiah” CSI 49.1

As Christians, we are not to be looking for a political messiah, a political savior, but to Jesus Christ, King of kings, Lord of lords, who promises to give us a new heart, a humble heart, a giving and forgiving heart, not prosperity as the world defines it or greatness, power and control as the world seeks.[86] CSI 49.2

It is easy to see a human political leader as the solution to all a nation’s ills, negative changes, and loss of prosperity, centering our conversation and effort into supporting that person. But this kind of “worship” and promotion of a human being is a form of idolatry—replacing God’s place as king of our hearts with that of a faulty human being. CSI 49.3

“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12 NKV CSI 49.4

“Nero and Caesar were acknowledged by the world as great men; but did God so regard them? — No! They were not connected with unselfish love with the great Heart of humanity…. They were lauded while living; but when they died, the world rejoiced.” Ellen White in RH July 11, 1907, par. 2 CSI 49.5
