Replacing bad habits with positive ones when it comes to pornography is crucial to personal growth and long-term victory. Even though a select few people get involved with porn due to past physical trauma, most stumble upon it for reasons including relieving stress or entertaining themselves. When we are mostly idle, the devil will use that opportunity to introduce destructive habits into our everyday regime. CLi 109.2
Whenever we become aware of our triggers as well as the specific behavior we wish to change, we must be intentional about totally eradicating whatever bad habit is controlling our productivity by replacing it with a positive alternative.[101] For example, if watching porn is something you do daily, consider picking up a hobby that involves being around people such as playing tennis or joining a book club. The key is to make small changes and stay consistent. Over time, you will no longer desire to appease your flesh but instead desire God’s peace and His will for your life. CLi 109.3
“Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.” Colossians 3:5 NIV CLi 109.4
“The surrender of all our powers to God greatly simplifies the problem of life. It weakens and cuts short a thousand struggles with the passions of the natural heart.” Ellen White In Letters to Young Lovers, p. 27 CLi 109.5
