Daniel is one of the most compelling examples of boldness for God in Scripture. In Daniel 1, Daniel and his friends choose a plant-based diet at great risk, rather than unhealthy food that had been offered to idols. Later, on pain of a fiery death, Daniel’s three friends refused to bow in idolatry before the grand statue made to honor the king (see Daniel 3). Faithful throughout life and into his old age, Daniel continued to pray to God, even in the face of a decree to worship only King Darius or be cast into a den of lions (see Daniel 6).^[60] CLi 67.2
