When it comes to strength training, a variety of exercises can target different muscle groups, offering numerous physical and mental benefits. Common forms of strength training include weightlifting, resistance band exercises, bodyweight movements like push-ups and squats, and functional training such as kettlebell swings. CWe 93.2
Each type of exercise provides unique advantages, allowing you to tailor workouts to your fitness goals and preferences. By engaging in strength training, you will not only improve your muscle mass, bone density, and joint health, but you will also reduce the risk of injuries and conditions like osteoporosis. Aside from the physical benefits, strength training increases mental resilience by reducing stress, increasing self-esteem, and promoting overall well-being.[105] As you strengthen your body, you also honor God by caring for the vessel He has entrusted to you, equipping yourself to serve others effectively and lead a life with intentionality and gratefulness. CWe 93.3
“The wise prevail through great power, and those who have knowledge muster their strength.” Proverbs 24:5 NIV CWe 93.4
“For a healthy young man, stern, severe exercise is strengthening to the whole system.... Without such exercise the mind cannot be kept in working order. It becomes inactive, unable to put forth the sharp, quick action that will give scope to its powers…” Ellen White in My Life Today, p. 130 CWe 93.5
Reflect: How does the Bible's emphasis on physical health and well-being inform your approach to strength training? CWe 93.6
