Counsel #6 — Heart Transformation

Picture: Counsel #6 — Heart Transformation CWe 264.1

A change of heart toward bad desires begins with recognizing that such desires often stem from selfishness, unhealthy influences, or unmet needs. True transformation requires a shift in mindset and reliance on God, who renews our hearts and minds. By inviting Him into your struggle, you allow His strength to replace your weaknesses. CWe 264.2

Start by identifying the root of the unhealthy desire or temptation, and bring it to God in prayer, asking for guidance and cleansing. In this process, remember that the devil will try to plant thoughts of shame and guilt in your mind regarding past mistakes — but don’t listen to him! Instead, reflect on scriptures like the one for today, and surround yourself with uplifting influences—people, environments, and habits that align with your values. Most importantly, redirect your focus to positive actions, like serving others through a volunteer opportunity. Remember, a change of heart is a process that requires patience. With God’s help, bad desires can give way to righteous ones.[298] CWe 264.3
