Counsel #21 — Power Your Brain

Picture: Counsel #21 — Power Your Brain CWe 168.1

Physical activity enhances blood flow and oxygen delivery to the brain, improving cognitive functions and promoting clearer thinking and better judgment. The increased oxygen and nutrient supply also promote neurogenesis—the growth of new brain cells—essential to maintaining brain health and resilience. CWe 168.2

By adopting a lifestyle of regular exercise, your brain’s frontal lobe will be enhanced by regulating your emotions better, resisting impulsive conduct, and helping you maintain a higher level of focus. Conversely, when one is inactive or develops poor life habits, it could result in damage to the frontal lobe, which in turn diminishes mental clarity and weakens self-discipline. In this respect, exercise will help you not only improve your intellectual and emotional capabilities but also to respect and adhere to God’s will of keeping the body and mind in top shape.[203] CWe 168.3

“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.” 1 Corinthians 9:24 NIV CWe 168.4

“When physical exercise is taken, the circulation is quickened… Exercise gives new life and strength to every part of the body.” Ellen White in Reflecting Christ, p. 147 CWe 168.5

Reflect: Now that you know the cognitive benefits of regular physical activity, will you be a “doer” and not just a “hearer,” adopting more active lifestyle choices into your daily regime? If yes, what is your plan to do this? CWe 168.6
