While self-discipline and monitoring sugar intake are extremely important for balanced health, making sure you’re eating enough calories throughout the day is just as essential. Surprisingly, not eating enough can be just as harmful as overeating. CWe 131.2

Today, many people intentionally eat less to try and make their bodies look a certain way to fit societal standards. It’s important to realize that eating less on purpose is not the same as fasting — the latter is for clarity, discernment, and a closer relationship with God. If someone doesn’t eat enough, the body becomes weakened due to not receiving the nutrients it needs. Over time, this can lead to muscle loss, fatigue, dizziness, concentration issues, and a weakened immune system. In addition, many individuals even suffer from anemia and hormonal imbalances because of not eating enough. Yes, self-control regarding food is important, but you should never deprive yourself to the point of becoming physically sick. God desires for us to care for our bodies, which includes eating enough of healthy foods so that we may be well-nourished and ready to serve others accordingly.[167] CWe 131.3

“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31 NIV CWe 131.4

“The stomach calls for food at the time it is accustomed to receive it. If that time is delayed, the vitality of the system decreases…” Ellen White in Child Guidance, p. 387 CWe 131.5
