Counsel #26 — Resting in Jesus
Picture: Counsel #26 — Resting in Jesus CSL 43.1
When you have a real connection with Jesus, it brings a deep calm and trust inside you. It means you don't have to be constantly worried or stressed out about big things like whether you're truly saved, or about the problems you're facing, or even about all the scary stuff happening in the world. It's knowing you have Someone strong and loving watching over you, so you can let go of that heavy burden of worry. CSL 43.2
Sometimes you might have amazing, exciting moments where you feel Jesus close and see Him do incredible things. These "mountaintop experiences" are wonderful, but life can have really difficult moments as well. But walking with Jesus brings a steady, quiet peace in your mind and your heart, no matter the circumstance. CSL 43.3
Resting in Jesus means trusting that He's got everything under control, even when you don't. Breathe deep and relax because you know you're in the all-powerful hands that were nailed to the cross for you!26 CSL 43.4
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7 NIV CSL 43.5
“A life in Christ is a life of restfulness. There may be no ecstasy of feeling, but there should be an abiding, peaceful trust. Your hope is not in yourself; it is in Christ. Your weakness is united to His strength, your ignorance to His wisdom, your frailty to His enduring might.” Ellen White in Steps to Christ, pp. 70, 71 CSL 43.6
Reflect: How does meditating on Jesus' sacrifice for you contribute to your sense of peace and security? CSL 43.7
