Counsel #11 — Christ Attracts us to Himself

Picture: Counsel #11 — Christ Attracts us to Himself CSL 29.1

When someone genuinely cares about you--whether as a friend or something more--they often show it through acts of kindness, helping you out, or even giving up something important for you, just to show you they care, hoping you’ll respond in kind. CSL 29.2

In a greater way, Jesus pursues us. He works tirelessly to draw us away from the things that seem fun and exciting and promise happiness but ultimately leave us empty--those "unsatisfying, shallow pleasures of sin." Instead, He offers a life filled with true, lasting joy found only in Him. CSL 29.3

Jesus isn't passively waiting for us to stumble upon Him. He is actively reaching for our hearts, extending His love through His life, death, and resurrection. Every day, He calls us to leave behind what cannot satisfy and step into something infinitely better—the fullness of life with Him. His message is clear: "Come closer. What I have for you is way better and far more than you can imagine." 5 CSL 29.4

“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him.” John 6:44 ESV CSL 29.5

“The sinner may resist this love, may refuse to be drawn to Christ; but if he does not resist he will be drawn to Jesus….” Ellen White in Steps to Christ, p. 27 CSL 29.6

Reflect: What is one "unsatisfying, shallow pleasure" in your life that you sense Jesus is inviting you to turn away from? CSL 29.7
