Counsel #9 — Singing

Picture: Counsel #9 — Singing CMH 91.1

Spend part of your alone time with God praising Him through singing.[93] You could sing praises out loud, read the words in a hymnal, or listen to worship music. Reading the Psalms can also be an act of praise since many of the Psalms were originally written to be sung or to be accompanied by musical instruments in praise to God.   CMH 91.2

“Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with singing.” Psalms 100:2 NKJV  CMH 91.3

“The melody of praise is the atmosphere of heaven; and when heaven comes in touch with the earth, there is music and song—‘thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.’ Isaiah 51:3…. The history of the songs of the Bible is full of suggestion as to the uses and benefits of music and song. Music if often perverted to serve purposes of evil, and it thus becomes one of the most alluring agencies of temptation. But, rightly employed, it is a precious gift of God, designed to uplift the thoughts to high and noble themes, to inspire and elevate the soul.” Ellen White in Education, pp.161.4, 167.4 CMH 91.4

Reflect: Have you experienced times when music that honored God knit your soul and spirit to His? CMH 91.5
