Counsel #3 — Seek God’s Guidance In Prayer
Picture: Counsel #3 — Seek God’s Guidance In Prayer CMH 61.1
Many of the decisions we are called to make are difficult and complex, with no easy answers. The Bible tells us that when we ask God for wisdom, He will give it to us freely and generously (James 1:5). So before making any important decision, take some time to pray and ask God for His help.[65] He knows what we don’t, and He can see the big picture. He knows what is best for us and we can trust His guidance. Nothing is hidden from Him. CMH 61.2
“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” Jeremiah 33:3 NKJV CMH 61.3
“Let your prayer be, ’Take me, O Lord, as wholly Thine. I lay all my plans at Thy Feet. Use me today in Thy service.’ ... Each morning consecrate yourself to God for that day. Surrender all your plans to Him, to be carried out or given up as His providence shall indicate. Thus day by day you may be giving your life into the hands of God, and thus your life will be molded more and more after the life of Christ.” Ellen White in Steps to Christ, p. 70.1 CMH 61.4
Reflect: Do you find yourself, like Joshua (see Joshua 9:14), sometimes making an important decision without consulting the Lord? CMH 61.5
