Counsel #7 — Tithe

Picture: Counsel #7 — Tithe CMH 57.1

Many young Christians find it tempting to “cheat God” by not paying tithe[61] when undergoing financial stress. But God challenges you to “test Him and prove Him”—that He will bless you when you step out in faith to respect your financial commitment to Him.[62] Returning tithe is an act of trust, and God loves to honor His part of the covenant. Put God first, and watch the miracles unfold! CMH 57.2

“’Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse, for you have robbed Me…. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,’ says the Lord of hosts, ‘If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.’” Malachi 3:8-10 NKJV CMH 57.3

“We must deliberately resolve that we will honor God with our substance; and then we must let nothing tempt us to rob him of the tithes and offerings that are his due.” Ellen White in The Southern Watchmen, February 28, 1905, par. 7 CMH 57.4

Reflect: How can you approach tithing with a sense of trust and faith in God's provision, even during challenging times? CMH 57.5
