Counsel #23 — Intellect

Who told you that beauty and brains can’t coexist? From the very beginning, God gave women minds that reflect His own brilliance. Proverbs 2:6 reminds us that “the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” That invitation isn’t just for men; it is for women too. CI 123.2

God created your mind with capacity, curiosity, and creativity. Developing your intellect isn’t just about getting degrees or reading theological books, although those are commendable. It’s about asking questions that lead to truth and cultivating discernment, so you’re not easily swayed by emotion or peer pressure. A godly woman filters everything through the Word of God and seeks wisdom above what’s popular. Look at women in Scripture: Deborah judged a nation with sharp insight. Priscilla helped teach theology to early church leaders, and Esther used strategy and wisdom to save her people. Intelligence, when guided by the Spirit, is powerful and deeply feminine. So, how do you grow in godly intellect? Start by studying Scripture and asking the Holy Spirit to help you understand biblical truth. You weren’t just made to nurture. You were made to think with excellence and conviction.[129] CI 123.3

“There is nothing more calculated to strengthen the intellect than a study of the Bible.” Ellen White in Christian Education, p. 58 CI 123.5
