Counsels on Self-Identity
Counsel #10 — Filled with Anxiety
Picture: Counsel #10 — Filled with Anxiety CI 110.1
Think about two women walking through the same storm. One paces the floor at night, replaying every worst-case scenario, her mind consumed with “what ifs.” The other sleeps, maybe not perfectly, but peacefully, because she’s already handed her fears to God. The difference? Faith. CI 110.2
Anxiety often grows when we feel responsible for things only God can control. It’s not just about being overwhelmed. It’s about misplaced trust. The woman who tries to hold everything together in her own strength will always feel worn, but the one who trusts that God is who He says He is, that He sees, He cares, and He provides, will stand steady, even when life is not. Psalms 131 paints this beautifully: “I have calmed and quieted myself… like a weaned child with its mother.” This Scripture symbolizes what happens when we release control. Just like how a cared-for child doesn’t worry about the next meal or the chaos of the world, a woman grounded in God doesn’t either. So, if anxiety has become your default, figure out why you have stopped trusting God. As a woman, you’ll never experience a life of perfection in this world, but putting your trust in the One who loves you and is in control of it all is what will bring ultimate peace.[111] CI 110.3
