Counsel #4 — Purpose Of Redemption

Picture: Counsel #4 — Purpose Of Redemption CI 6.1

Redemption means purchasing back, ransoming, restoring. From a spiritual point of view, redemption is renewing the image of God in humanity after sin. When all was lost in Adam, Christ’s plan of redemption was implemented to restore purity in the characters of those who are willing.[4] In our fallen, carnal nature the image of God is tarnished. But His consuming desire is to bring us again to at-one-ment with Him, now and for eternity. CI 6.2

“Be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.” Ephesians 4:23, 24 NKJV CI 6.3

“To restore in man the image of his Maker, to bring him back to the perfection in which he was created, to promote the development of body, mind, and soul, that the divine purpose in his creation might be realized—this was to be the great work of redemption.” Ellen White in Education, p.15.2 CI 6.4

Reflect: In what ways are you daily seeking God to restore your body, mind, and soul to His image? CI 6.5
