Counsel #6 — Visitation

Picture: Counsel #6 — Visitation CI 39.1

One of the most meaningful and rewarding ways to serve is in house-to-house ministry. This method allows you to follow up on evangelistic meeting interests, visit those who once attended your local church but are no longer coming, take home-baked goods door-to-door with a relevant gospel tract, or invite people to a special spiritual event.[35] CI 39.2

Another method of house-to-house ministry is to give a short survey on community religious interests, culminating with offering a Bible study guide or other spiritually enriching material. If the individuals are receptive, return the following week with the next installment. Also, offer to pray for them, asking if they have a special request or if they’ve been hoping for a specific blessing. CI 39.3

“And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.” Acts 5:42 NKJV CI 39.4

“Paul, as well as laboring publicly, went from house to house preaching repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. He met with men at their homes and besought them with tears, declaring unto them the whole counsel of God.” Ellen White in Welfare Ministry, pp. 61, 62 CI 39.5
