Counsel #2 — Satan Seeks To Destroy

Picture: Counsel #2 — Satan Seeks To Destroy CI 4.1

After Adam and Eve sinned (see Genesis 3), Satan constantly sought to destroy the image of God in humanity, an ambition he keeps to this day.[2] He tempts each of us continually to distrust God’s love and doubt His wisdom. When Adam blamed Eve, and Eve blamed the serpent, and both implicitly blamed God, they were repeating the cycle that originated with Satan, the father of lies. Many still blame God for the suffering, loneliness, hate, misery, and death found in our world, rather than seeing these things as Satan’s efforts to destroy God’s image in humanity. CI 4.2

“Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned….” Romans 5:12, NKJV CI 4.3

“Satan has labored to obliterate the image of God in man, and to imprint upon him his own image.” Ellen White in Lift Him Up, p. 48.2 CI 4.4

Reflect: Have you caught yourself blaming others for the outcomes of your own poor choices? Have you considered Satan’s role in your suffering? CI 4.5
