In today’s world, power is magnetic. Just scroll through your feed or watch the news, and you’ll see that the leaders who dominate, command attention, and control narratives are the ones who rise to the top first. Politics, business, and sometimes even church structures reward ambition over humility. But not Jesus; He showed us a different way. CI 145.2

The world says, “Do whatever’s necessary to get on top.” Jesus says, “Bend low and serve, if you really want to be great.” Real power, kingdom power, looks like leader-servanthood, restraint when it matters most, and listening when you could dictate. Ellen White wrote, “Those whom God has placed in positions of responsibility should never seek to exalt themselves... only those who are under the rule of Satan will do this.”^[159] That’s a sobering warning, especially in a world that rewards self-promotion. For men placed in positions of influence, whether as pastors, teachers, fathers, or team leaders, the call is clear: resist the urge to make it about you. Redirect the attention upward and let your influence point others to God. When all is said and done, Jesus was never focused on having all the power during His earthly ministry. So, neither should you.^[160] CI 145.3
