Counsel #22 — Truth Amidst Lies
Picture: Counsel #22 — Truth Amidst Lies CR 90.1
Have you ever been the target of false rumors? It’s both frustrating and painful, especially when people believe things that simply aren’t true. While it might be easier to respond with a desire to “get even,” as Christians, we’re called to confront falsehoods differently. CR 90.2
Jesus faced this kind of opposition often. The Pharisees and other religious leaders accused Him of being a fraud—even of working with the devil! But instead of losing His temper or retaliating, Jesus responded with wisdom. He exposed their hypocrisy with truth yet did so with grace. His example shows us a better way. CR 90.3
Whether someone’s gossiping at school or spreading misinformation online, it’s important to respond with integrity. Before reacting, pause and pray for guidance. Standing up for the truth isn’t always easy, but it can be done in a way that is firm without being harsh, honest without demeaning. While giving God full control of your life, surrender your words to Him, and He will guide you to speak in a way that reflects His heart and character.15 CR 90.4
“But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, “It is only by Beelzebul, the prince of demons, that this fellow drives out demons.” Matthew 12:24 NIV CR 90.5
“The Saviour has a deep contempt for all deception.” Ellen White in My Life Today, p. 331 CR 90.6
