Counsels on Relationships
Counsel #2 — God-Centered Relationship
Picture: Counsel #2 — god-centered relationship CR 73.1
God created marriage with all its blessings! But since Satan wants to counterfeit every good thing God gives us, he seeks to destroy marriages, bringing pain and bitterness into relationships that were meant for happiness and joy. Though some marriages are irreparably broken due to Satan’s work, God is still the Great Healer. He can give peace to those in broken relationships and restore the relationships of those who mutually seek His help. Couples who covenant together to bring God into their marriages will have His help through the burdens and anxieties of marital life.[70] CR 73.2
“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NKJV CR 73.3
“Study to advance the happiness of each other. Let there be mutual love, mutual forbearance. Then marriage, instead of being the end of love, will be as it were the very beginning of love. The warmth of true friendship, the love that binds heart to heart, is a foretaste of the joys of heaven.” Ellen White in The Ministry of Healing, p. 360 CR 73.4
