Counsels on Relationships
Counsel #2 — Making Christ Central
Picture: Counsel #2 — Making Christ Central CR 57.1
How can you and the person you’re dating put Christ at the center of your relationship? First, pray together! Whether in person, on the phone, over a video call, or any other way, pray together often! Pray for each other, pray to know God better, pray for guidance in your relationship, pray for the love that you share. Look for outreach opportunities. Read the Bible together, attend Bible study or prayer groups together, make music together, and worship God together in church. Encourage each other in your faith![55] CR 57.2
“And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 11:24, 25 NKJV CR 57.3
“Only where Christ reigns, can there be deep, true, unselfish love. Then soul will be knit with soul, and the two lives will blend in harmony.” Ellen White in Messages to Young People, p. 440 CR 57.4
Reflect: If the person you’re considering dating or are already dating is not willing to pray with you, what might that choice indicate about Christ’s place in his or her life? CR 57.5
