Following Jesus doesn’t just mean living right. It also means speaking up for what’s right where you are and across the world. To have a real impact, we must approach public issues that affect real lives. Things like racial injustice, poverty, environmental destruction, and broken systems that hurt the vulnerable should be things we advocate against. CR 48.2

Jesus was never silent in the face of suffering. He challenged corrupt leaders and lifted up those the world ignored. If we’re serious about following Him, we can’t turn a blind eye to national or worldwide issues. As Christians, we’re called to care about the things that break God’s heart, which includes fighting for diversity, equity, and justice in our schools, neighborhoods, and government. Practically, this could look like educating yourself about policies that impact the poor, minorities, and the environment, and using your voice to advocate for change. Equally important is supporting leaders and laws that align with God’s values of compassion and fairness. Personally, you should also live in a way that shows you care about God’s world. Recycling, reducing waste, donating, and serving your community are all ways to move your faith from passive to active.^[48] CR 48.3

Reflect: Do you care about issues that affect people outside your own circle enough to get involved? CR 48.6
