Often, counseling is misunderstood. Some people see therapy as a sign of weakness, while others see it as a last resort when life has completely fallen apart. So, where does this stigma around counseling come from? Too often, pride or fear keeps people from seeking help, which is exactly what the devil wants. CR 376.2
No matter who hurt you, the lingering pain will make forgiveness feel like an impossible mountain to climb. In the moments when you feel like giving up, God can work through others to walk beside you in your journey toward healing. This doesn’t mean that you need to spend a ton of money on a behavioral therapist or that you have to go talk to someone every day of the week. Instead, start small. Reach out to a Christian counselor who isn’t only well qualified to offer practical advice but can also point you back to the promises in God’s Word. A godly counselor will help you release the power unforgiveness and resentment have over your heart, allowing you to live free in Christ Jesus.[397] CR 376.3
“For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers.” Proverbs 11:14 NIV CR 376.4
“There is need of shepherds who, under the direction of the Chief Shepherd, will seek for the lost and straying.” Ellen White in Gospel Workers, p. 184 CR 376.5
