Counsel #27 — No One’s Perfect

Working in a Christian environment can sound ideal. After all, having prayer before meetings would be extremely beneficial in many ways, including good communication. While those things would be a blessing, it’s important to remember that Christian workplaces are still made up of imperfect people at different stages in their spiritual walk. CR 356.2
Some coworkers may be deeply committed, while others might be struggling, questioning, or even acting in ways that don’t reflect Christ. That reality can feel confusing, but being in a Christian workplace doesn’t mean you’ll never encounter challenges. It means you’ll have many opportunities to practice grace, patience, and accountability in a unique setting. Think of the disciples: all of them followed Jesus, yet they still argued over who was the greatest. Even among believers, immaturity, pride, or selfishness can surface. Instead of being discouraged, see it as a chance to strengthen your own walk and to model Christlike behavior in your responses. Additionally, celebrate the blessings of working with fellow believers, but don’t forget Jesus is taking each person on a journey to restore in them His perfect character—none of us are there yet. Guard against disillusionment by keeping your eyes on Him, not on the shortcomings of your coworkers; remember, you have your own![372] CR 356.3
