Counsel #13 — Rewards Of Forgiveness
Picture: Counsel #13 — Rewards of Forgiveness CR 169.1
Forgiveness is a pivotal aspect of your spiritual growth and a reflection of God's own forgiving nature. While it may be a difficult path to tread, the rewards are immense. Forgiveness liberates you from the chains of resentment, bitterness, and anger, allowing you to experience a greater sense of peace and freedom. Forgiveness may save friendships and relationships that you value. It fosters improved mental, emotional, and spiritual health by reducing stress, anxiety, and depression. Physically, forgiveness can have a positive impact on your well-being by lowering blood pressure and improving overall health. CR 169.2
Best of all, forgiveness deepens your connection with God, as it mirrors His unconditional love and mercy. By extending forgiveness to others, you are allowing yourself to be renewed in the image of God, which is our life purpose as Christians![166] CR 169.3
“Love prospers when a fault is forgiven, but dwelling on it separates close friends.” Proverbs 17:9 NLT CR 169.4
“The glory of God is to be revealed in the creation of man in God's image and in his redemption.... The Lord Jesus Christ is the author of our being, and He is also the author of our redemption, and everyone who will enter the kingdom of God will develop a character that is the counterpart of the character of God.” Ellen White in God’s Amazing Grace, p. 246 CR 169.5
